I've been drawing as long as I can remember. In gradeschool I drew comics of my friends being attacked by robots and taped them to the sides of my desk. In highschool all my free credits were art related. I learned the basics in drawing, as well as graphic design, photography, and architecture. I made flyers for my friends' bands and some of the school plays. In AP art I put my portfolio together and applied to Center for Creative Studies as well as a few engineering schools. My main focus was to get into the automotive industry, either as an engineer or industrial designer. The industrial design program at CCS was extremely hard to get into and Kettering offered mechanical engineering internships in the industry starting freshman year so I took the engineer route.
Art pretty much took a backseat to school and work in college. I mostly drew to escape boredom in class or create flyers for clubs and events. I put on a couple schoolwide art shows which were fun, but I didn't have much new work since high school which was frustrating. This all changed when I went to Germany. After a few months of study abroad in Konstanz, I moved to Koln and started my thesis at Visteon Gmbh. There I stumbled upon the Kolbhalle, what once was an old bakery/factory building converted to studios. Several artists lived and worked there and I made many friends. I didn't have much contact with other artists since high school and sharing their creativity and energy really helped me. It got me excited to do art again.
For my last 3 months in Germany I moved to the Kolbhalle and lived in a restored pre-war wagon which was an interesting experience. The warehouse was rented out for parties, concerts, and art shows and I met people from all parts of the world there. Many of the artists were heavily involved in the Koln art culture so I tagged along to many of the shows and festivals in the city. Since then I've been trying to stay at it and grow artistically. I have more free time after graduating from school and have been working on a lot of paintings and projects, as well as music. This is the first time I've had all of my stuff in one place and I'm excited to show what I have done. I'm always looking for projects and ways to work with people so if you have something in mind let me know.
